Shipping Policy
Indonesian Rare Plants ships worldwide by air from West Java, Indonesia. Every order travels with a phytosanitary certificate issued after government inspection.
Processing time
Allow approximately 16 days from order to dispatch.
Your plant is not sitting in a warehouse. It stays with the grower until you buy it. Once you order, it is cut, cleaned, inspected and issued its phytosanitary certificate. That inspection and paperwork is what takes the time — and it is the reason your plant arrives with working roots instead of having spent months in storage.
Transit time
Once dispatched, most parcels arrive within 5–14 days depending on destination and customs. Remote destinations and countries with strict plant inspection can take longer.
Total time from order to doorstep is typically 3–5 weeks. If you need a plant by a specific date, please ask us before ordering.
How your plant is packed
- Roots are cleaned and inspected
- Roots are wrapped in moist sphagnum moss
- The plant is wrapped to prevent movement in transit
- The phytosanitary certificate and invoice travel inside the box
Most plants ship bare-root, without soil. This is not a shortcut — it is required by most countries’ plant import rules, since soil can carry pests and pathogens.
Phytosanitary certificate
Included with every order at no extra cost. This is a government document confirming the plant has been inspected and is free of pests and disease. Without it, customs will not release live plants.
Customs, duties and taxes
Prices do not include customs duties, import taxes, brokerage or handling fees. These are set by your country and are payable by you, usually to the carrier before delivery.
Import permits — please read before ordering
You are the importer of record. Some countries require you to hold an import permit before live plants can enter, and some require the parcel to be routed to a designated plant inspection station.
Obtaining any permit your country requires is your responsibility. We cannot obtain one on your behalf, and our export paperwork is not a substitute for your import permit.
United States buyers: the USDA APHIS PPQ 587 import permit is free to apply for and can take several weeks to issue. Apply well before ordering.
If a parcel is seized, destroyed or refused entry because the required permit was not in place, we are not able to refund it.
Not sure what your country requires? Message us with your location before you order. We will tell you honestly what we know, and tell you when we do not know.
Tracking
You will receive tracking by email when your parcel is dispatched. International plant shipments sometimes show no scan activity for several days while in transit or under inspection. This is normal and not a sign the parcel is lost.
Address accuracy
Please double-check your shipping address at checkout. We cannot redirect a parcel once it has been exported, and we cannot refund a parcel delivered to an address you supplied incorrectly.
Delays outside our control
Weather, flight cancellations, customs backlogs and public holidays in Indonesia or your country can all delay a shipment. We will keep you informed, but these delays are not grounds for a refund.
